Knitting, stitching, thrifting, crocheting

A little while ago I happened to stumble upon a local college’s art and design exhibition while having a late lunch with friends. Obviously I love all things crafty and arty, so I popped in and wasn’t disappointed. The work was really interesting and it was great to see the way the students minds worked and how their plans became reality.

The students of Coleg Sir Gâr explore different approaches on the course, among them Fine Art and Fashion and Textiles, so it seems like a really fun course to do. The college is renowned for its art too and I always hear good things about it.

The standard of work was really exceptional especially for a foundation course and I enjoyed the visit very much. I also think the idea of having a pop up art space in the middle of town was a brilliant idea, as Carmarthen could definitely do with some more creativity. Plus, isn’t it nice to pop into a craft space when you’ve spent all your money in Topshop or eaten your body weight in food at the restaurant next door? It’s the perfect pick-me up.

A massive well done to the students of Coleg Sir Gâr. I hope there will be more pop up arts and craft in Carmarthen soon.
